Northeast Adventure Day 1

Just as we finished loading the car to leave, a big thunderstorm rolled in thoroughly soaking us before we got into the car. We hit the road around 9 am and it rained for the better part of the day. Our boarder crossing in Sarnia was pretty unremarkable (here's a picture of the bridge to Canada...and the rain)

"On Route" are rest stops along the Canadian highways that are all pretty similar - we had the opportunity to check out quite a few of them. :) They are  well maintained and have a variety of fast food restaurants as well as a gas station.

The drive to Montreal should have taken 11 hours (plus boarder crossing and rest stops). We made it to the city at 9:30 pm, but spent the next hour in the dark making a series of wrong turns, navigating construction, and reading French road signs. We finally made it to our rental apartment around 10:30 pm - quickly unpacked and went to sleep.
